[ Listens quietly, as he is prone to doing. Always listening to others talk. Preferring it that way. Even if hearing something like this, about someone he cares about, will always be hard to take in. Helpless, because they wish they could take the pain in stead of people they care for. Useless, because it's done with and all they can do is listen. But they don't jump or pull away as fingers lace, always content and happy for the connection. Always craving some kind of connection. There's a blink of surprise at mention of her but nods slowly. Talking out.. smart. Especially for milestones. He looks at that smile and offers a smile in return, as false as it is. ]
..So you offered yourself as sacrifice. [ A sigh, frowning as their brows furrow. Clearly something they don't like hearing. But they can understand. Since Siffrin would have likely done the exact same in that situation. (don't like it anyway) What a hypocrite that they are. ]
You shouldn't have died at all. ..I know concerning the options left, a lot of it isn't good. [ Their team, so many teens but... looks forward as they slide into the fort. Looking for a good spot for them to sit properly. Rest some weary bones. ] Going through it before, death and everything.. doesn't mean you deserved the pain of it.
[ (...) ] I can only hope it was painless and quick.
[ slinks inside with, his own thoughts stubborn - mixed, but steadfast. without regret. the words "good luck" still have some kind of place branded in his throat. he's glad that maybe it found some purchase after his death. he sees that brow furrow and he briefly squeezes their hand. i know. i'm sorry.

Painless, no... but that was an accident. She was quick when she realized I hadn't died. [ head lowered ] I was grateful.

[ A small shake of their head at the apology, trying to pull back some of their.. dislike of the situation. Wishful thinking for anything else. It's unfair to Artemy. It isn't as if he had asked for this specifically. Just.. worked with the situation, tried to think quick, and this is the results of it. He shouldn't be apologizing for anything.
But Siffrin knows how they are. Willing to do anything to protect those they care for. Sacrifice themselves exactly for it. Would break the world to keep someone they care about safe. A breath in, and out. Taking in both the squeeze and nudge. ]
..I'm glad she didn't let it go any longer than it needed.
[ And it's not a lie. They're glad someone was there to make it quick. Imagine if it had been someone else? ..No, don't think about it. Grabs a few extra pillows themselves before piling them together and flopping to sit. Sirius flopping on their own as they watch a little movie nearby. ]
You can take some pride in that. [ (...that was a terrible pun, stars) ]
Mm. [ he nods quickly at that. ] Dying's never fun, but zebras aside, it was a pawsitive experience.
[ he'll flop back down last once sirius and siffrin get comfortable, fixing a pillow up under his right leg and settling in comfortably with them. he can't help but laugh at the stupid pun and duck his head. ]

What would Siffrin be without terrible puns? Probably nobody. It's always worth it if it makes someone laugh. And of course they laugh quietly in turn at similar puns thrown their way. For now, they let the silence fill, knowing where the thoughts may end up. About the people left behind. People you care about. But inevitably, people to be seen again.
So they won't nag and lecture him any further regarding the risks and consequences of sacrifices and so forth. As if Siffrin is someone of all people to lecture about that kind of thing. They take another breath in, and out, and very gently - lean against Artemy's side. Keeping their eye focused on Sirius who already begins to doze off from whatever silly movie they're watching on their pillow. ]
In the meantime, you didn't miss much. A lot of.. odd events. Probably happier missing out on. [ Tired eye stares forward, heavy with eyebags, those newly scars adorning their face admitting there's been more than simple events but. They don't bring it up. Nothing worth worrying. ] ..Anything exciting to share from that side?
[ nothing worth worrying so they might think, but there's a shift to his expression as he feels siffrin lean against him. his head tilts and he frowns, eyes on sirius as well, a good focal point as he closes his eyes and lets his brow furrow. ]
Haunted horse burial grounds, being bald again, getting cursed to a act like a complete sleaze who wears their shirt with only two buttons done up for several hours, drawing Kaworu into our team, losing Kaworu from our team, adopting Sei into our team instead... dying... I'd say things are pretty normal.
[ his arm lifts to welcome siffrin in leaning against his side, coming down only when they're settled to draw them in a bit. the motion is not reticent, but it does seem to hold itself back until he turns his head and lightly returns the earlier bunting ]
You have a new addition to your collection. How long ago was that...?
[ a hand lifting to softly press a finger against their cheek. close to the line of a new scar, a swell of we are too used to this slipping past as he huffs. ]
You've been busy with curses. [ Said with some airy tease in their tone. Giggling just for a moment. ] Can't say the same for myself outside the little curse war Boothill and I had. Between turning him into a pony and him turning me into a sheep in turn. Baad choice for him.
[ A small little blep of their tongue at that joke. Watching Sirius until the small little chao finally seems to doze off. Pulled a little from their attention as that arm settles and they freeze a little. In that notion of being unused to the contact, but they think of someone - a man with a mask that covers only one half of his face. A sunshine smile who draws them into hugs and their next breath is a bit shakier.
They don't realize the way their eye wells with a bit of tear until that hand brings a finger to their cheek. That eye slips closed, leaning into the touch. Starved for that contact. The thoughts to support it. (real. warm. I'm here. exist.) Before those thoughts fade out too. ]
It was... [ Their brows furrow. Trying to remember. ] The.. first week I was here? Or...
[ Their thoughts are a scribbled mess trying to remember. Coming and going. A sigh out. ]
An excursion on Thursday. Alex and Mizuki were there, too.
[ okay that gets him, genuine laugh, though it tapers off slowly.
you are here and you exist. i'll remind you as many times as it takes. he offers him a soft smile, tired and gentle as he isn't sure, thoughts hesitant. this does not exist where he must return to. it's gone, stolen. he'll lose it again.
but that is the way, isn't it? he doesn't pull away, but remains, steady, rooted. ]
That's alright... easy...
[ as he perceives that scribbled mess of thoughts, fingertips glancing up just to push a bit of their hair out of the way. ]
Busy from the jump then... should have known you couldn't stay out of trouble...
[ it isn't even their fault!!! but his expression remains ]
[ It's always scary to be perceived. Shown in the slightly embarrassed, mostly guilty look to have their thoughts known so obviously. This was always a difficult effect to get used to.
Peeking at that smile and answering with a soft hum. Nice to have in their moment but.. short-lived. Their attention turns away with a raise of their eye as those fingers drift. Feeling the brush of their hair, tilting their head to brush against that hand. In the same way a cat might ask for touch. If because Siffrin will always, deep down be afraid to ask. They opt to not close their eye and risk whatever nightmare might greet them. Focus on the present instead. ]
Not one to always sit still. Better odds this time though. I remember I ended up on two of them back in Heaven.
[ So just the one here isn't too bad. They're basically any expert by now? Unsure if that's really all that comforting but.. they offer those words anyway. ]
Coming back from them here is easier than over there. Plenty of ways to heal up.
